We must guard against our deceitful desires through gods word. Psalm 374 says delight yourself in the lord and he will give you the desires of your heartwhile this is true we can still be swayed by our sinful nature.
It seems clear to me that speaking in the spirit means speaking under the guidance of the spirit or energized and helped by the spirit.
